When you hear the birds cooing, do you wonder what they are communicating too? There are several mourning doves that sit around my yard, and they coo and coo.... They seem to really like their surroundings...having been born here and all. They are "home bodies" I am thinking.
See, once upon a summer, my friend, Kim went to water my flowers while I was in Mexico City with Operation Serve and she was suddenly very surprised at the protective Momma Mourning Dove hovering over her eggs in my window box. I let my flowers go that year to accommodate my "hobo birds", only to find they so liked their accommodations, they moved in quickly the following spring. That is when we had "the talk"....I explained to my feathered friends, you are welcome to stay only if you understand that I need to water these flowers sitting under and around you.
We made a pact that day. She nestled, I watered and she never moved when I did (remarkably!).
Momma (or Popcorn, which is the name my young friend, Marifer called her...) gave birth to the most beautiful little doves...and we all enjoyed thriving flowers. Her nursery was really quite beautiful!
Sweet doves, you are welcome to coo here anytime~enjoy the garden!
