On Fridays, I would hope that we would have memorized it.

Here at the station, Nancy Armstrong and James Kilkenny were generally speaking the only two who consistently did. It was Nancy who said, if you bake cookies for the staff and give them one as a reward, they will more than likely memorize the scripture. She was right! Folks paid $2 if they didn’t know the scripture and it was free if they did know it! It was quite an incentive, I guess. I baked every Friday morning for many years…it was Nancy’s fault.

Early on, the staff teased me and asked that I would choose the shortest verse in the bible and this is it: Jesus wept. So, as a surprise one week, I did. But! In order to get the cookie…they had to answer 3 questions:

1. When Lazarus dies, which of the

2. sisters came out of the house to meet Jesus on the road? 2. Where did the mourners come from?

3. Why did Jesus weep?

The first two questions were objective, obviously, but the third was the "essay" question & there were many answers…but Nancy Armstrong's answer was this:

Jesus wept because He knew what He was taking Lazarus from.

Who are you scared of? Are we intimidated by the unbeliever? If so, then, really, why would we be? Darkness is NOT more powerful than light. If light is burning brightly, darkness walking into the light is devoured by the light, right?! On the other side of the coin, when light walks into darkness, it shines! We have the edge every time!

Share Jesus without fear...right now, I am in the midst of teaching a Sunday School class on this book and watch out! The close to 30 adults who come every Sunday are about to descend on the darkness with BOLDness and LIGHT! Time passed...and again. I see myself in a different light tonight. No, not the light projecting from my computer, as there is no mirror present (grateful). Just really wondering how this time passed. Slowly sometimes, and sometimes with great speed.

Amazing seeing a person in a coffin that I spoke with not that long ago, what? two months. His time on this earth is gone now, his impact remembered dearly by many, especially by his precious family...tears flowing freely, memories so vivid now. Surreal, I know. I think about my own dear Dad and how I wanted the world to stop, because it had stopped as far as I was concerned. Time healed the sharp pain. Now, here I am, with less time than I had 16 years ago. Thank God my life, my time is in His mighty hands. Thank you, Lord for moments and days remembered.

May I live each one yet to come for You and for Your glory. Revival is the healing place and therefore, we are having The Healing Fest. I actually announced this about 12 days ago. Since then one of my co-worker's father has died and one of my close friend's husband passed away. Life truly is so fragile, a flicker. At one point or other, this life does indeed, end. Where do we go? The decision is made right here. Either we spend eternity with God, or apart from Him.
These 2 men, now gone from this life...so sadly missed by their families, having left such a mark on their respective lives. This blog is written with Joseph Huk Sr. and especially Richard Olson in mind. I knew Richard. He was one of my very first advertising partners. Olson Oldsmobile, what a great place! I have the privilege of speaking at his funeral service this Wednesday morning at Brightmoor Christian Church in Novi.
We live in a fallen world, and as a result ...we get sick, lose jobs, spouses, our minds and sometimes we have antique leafs of oak dining room tables fall out of the closet square on our toes as we reach for the vacuum cleaner. I wanted to get my cleaning done and then bake for Toni and her family. My plans ended abruptly when I opened the closet door.
I stare longingly at the toes to our right and wish/hope/pray that one day, I will have brand new feet. Feet that not only look pretty, but more importantly, feel pretty!!! I cried at urgent care as the pain was through the roof, I felt so lonely, not a stitch of make up on, and at first, the medical care was soooo sub-par that all I could do was pray. And I did. I prayed out loud at one point.
Blood loss, x-rays discovering 3 breaks, numbing and a bunch of stitches later...I am grateful that a real doctor came in and saved my third toe. Turned out, he is a listener. Sweet man. He and his wife will be taking their 4 boys to warmer temperatures fairly soon. Dr. Ryan.
I have a great deal on my plate this week...never expecting a "slow down" Guess you never do...I am grateful it is just a toe...not the whole foot, my leg, my life. Fragile, once again, I hear that ringing in my ears...this life is just that: fragile.
What are you doing with it???
Tonight, my listeners called in by the dozens with prayer requests. I promised I would pray and I will. Every day this week at 6:30PM. I am expecting answers from God. It is called FAITH, and I plan on using it. It would be terrible to ignore one of God's greatest gifts.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

A Simple Conversation with GOD

I found myself on the kitchen floor, at first to retrieve the pill Polly neatly left after finishing her dinner. I stayed there. It seemed a great place to begin my conversation with the Lord. I have been praying and thinking about my speaking engagement tomorrow, but had concerns for people I know and love....so I lifted them up to the Father. He was listening. It was a sweet time and ended in a song He once gave me to sing to Him...and all I want to do is kiss your nail-pierced hands and all I want to do is gaze into your beautiful eyes, waltz across the water with You, I know you'll hold me tight...quietly, Polly nudged me as if she knew I was finished with my time.

Ah! A walk would be perfect, though a little late, I am up for it. Can I just say how perfect it was? Perfect. But! before we traipsed out into the balmy, cloudy, soft-breezed evening, the thought occurred to me: whoa, there are varmints out there, having been reminded by one of my many co-walking neighbors recently. So,I prayed a simple prayer:

Lord, please do not let us come across a skunk or raccoon or anything that creeps me out, okay?

Though she (Polly) nearly pulled my arm out of its socket a couple of times, we were more than unscathed...we got a walk in that can be beat! I feel so energized and grateful. I love life. I love the scent of Spring in the gentle breeze. I love the kindness of a simple prayer answered. (so swiftly, I might add!) I love that Jesus walked with us. I love.

Answered Prayer~in progress!

When I was in Yokohama for an unusually long-distanced speaking engagement, the Costache Family made arrangements for me to meet the couple I prayed for to have a child.

Here is the deal: they did not believe in God. Though, rather taken by the ongoing witness in Christian Costache, he shared their secret desire to have a child....who knows? perhaps this guy and his wife, due to their commitment to their God will help our longing to have a child. the doctors say, "No." Maybe "God" will say, "Yes?!"

I received a call from Chris and Aurora and they asked that we would agree in prayer (Matthew 18:18 & 19) for this couple. As we prayed, I sensed that the Lord wanted to give them a time-table...before Christmas, you will be pregnant, I heard it loudly and clearly (this was at the end of October/beginning of November in 2007). They found out they were expecting before Christmas break!

Back to the luncheon....see the picture of the family? Mom and Dad are filled with joy! Their son is a treasure to them and a darling little one, healthy as can be! I spoke with him rather candidly about the answer to prayer and God's demonstration of power in that. I will tell you this: Though he is not yet a believer, he is far more close to realizing that there is a God due to the prayer of agreement and the display of God's love in his arms. This is called "supernatural soulwinning," I believe! To God be the glory!

Before you know it, their hands will be raised in praise to the One who answered that prayer!

Get wisdom, or be dumb!

Hey there...so sorry that it has been a long time since I communicated with you on the blog. Forgive me. The SVOTW (aka The Scripture Verse of the Week) is from Proverbs 12, verse 1. Here we go: Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.

Imagine! Stupid. What a word! It's a nasty word, a descriptive word, an "in your face" word. I most certainly would not want to be labeled as such...stupid, you kidding me? But I am. No, I am not putting myself down here, I am being honest-to-goodness truthful instead. I resist correction much of the time. Know why? Because I don't want anything to be my fault! I don't want to mess up...and I don't want to take the blame. Although, I am taking the blame right here and right now. He wants me to and whatever God wants, I want.

I am guilty...of so much it makes me want to just sit here and cry. In fact, there are water deposits sitting on the keys right now. (I've been told my eyes tell it all.) They, along with my typing fingers are speaking the truth. I am guilty!!! But I know where to go, Who to talk to, & how to rid myself of my sinful nature: I go to Jesus.

Run, don't walk, to the cross. Let's confess right now and tell Him how sorry we are for our sins/how grateful we are for His amazing gesture of the cross/His faithfulness in washing away the guilt/ how awesome that he throws the horror of our actions and sickening thoughts in a forgetful place. Teach me, oh God!!! Give me the correction, the sooner the better!

I love instruction, I will gain knowledge. I love correction and I am not stupid!

Get wisdom, or be dumb!

The Valentine Letter~Sweet!

Robin, here's my Valentine's letter. I don't know if she'll be listening on Thursday or not but I wanted to get it out there. It would be great to hear Steven Curtis Chapman's "I will be here" - I would love to sing this to her one day...Sweetheart, I wanted to try to capture in words how totally excited, enthralled, engaged, encouraged, exuberant I am knowing you and sharing this wonderful adventure of life with you for the rest of our days here on earth! I am SO looking forward to spending my days with you, sharing the victories and trials together, growing gracefully into one flesh, and fulfilling all God's plans and purposes for us and our family. I praise God for all the talents and gifts He's given you and how you are faithfully using them for His glory. I rejoice in your love for your family, for children, for music, and above all your unabashed love for Jesus! I want you to know that I'm praying for you (and won't stop!) that you'll be the woman of God He has called you to be and that He would protect you at all times.I don't know if I have met you or not, but I wait patiently for God to reveal His plan for us in His perfect time. I will be faithfully waiting for that time.

Facebook

I'm on facebook (Robin Sullivan)....WMUZ is on facebook....are you on?

Sweet Dreams

Funny, our minds and how they are in sleep. It is 6:30AM in Japan, and I think it is safe to assume that my darling niece, Colleen Marie is more than likely jockeying her three cherubs and getting ready to make dinner and who knows(? )throwing a load of wash while folding another.

She is on my mind, I dreamt about her and now I could cry. She is so lovely and has become quite the young woman and I miss her so. Perhaps having been wrapped in love here in the Costache family, and feeling so much a part of them, my yearning to be near family has surfaced. More than likely.

In any case, I hope sweet Colleen Marie knows that she is on my heart, and the Lord put her there while I slumbered.

5 times fast

The Monday expedition was the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Only it was closed to us commoners due to the fact that the Mexican president was about to arrive. There was no room for us at the inn (smile).
So, next stop was: weaving our way over to the Tokyo Tower. It is similar in design to The Eiffel, only it's orange. Didn't someone once say that orange is not the new pink?! They were so right! Now, can you tell that I have been spending quality time with two young girls?! They are The 2 oldest in the Costache family: Abbey and Jackie, and they are in a word: fabulous!!

Okay, back to Tokyo and the older girls day out. I could easily be the mom of 2 of the 3 that I was with, ask me if that matters~nah.

One of the girls is planning her wedding, just imagine how amazing it is to be traveling on a high speed train from Yokohama to Tokyo and be looking at pictures on a phone of a precious young woman dressed in her wedding gown in a dress shop in Royal Oak MI! Cracks me up.

Even as I write, Shannyn Caldwell and I have just spoken and I am now hearing my plea to The WMUZ audience to give to the "Help Haiti" fund through Compassion International. Amazing, especially since I still have my jammies on:-)

Sooooooo we decided since we were going to go to the observation deck, why not go to the sierra?!

That is where one might be challenged to say, 5 times fast: timidly, we went to the tippety top of the Tokyo tower on a terrifically cold & cloudy day.

Sunday in Japan!

The sun has risen, Christian music is pouring out of this MacBook and it is well with my soul.
Yesterday, as I shared the power of God's great love toward me, a sinner in need of His grace, one thing occurred to me: the body of Christ is the same everywhere. We are one in the Spirit!

As a small group of us gathered, they gave me the privilege of opening up the Word of God and also opening up my life so they could know me better. It was a sweet time of fellowship. we prayed for the outreach coming up in one week. The Lord was faithful to us, naturally.

I have pictures to post for you...so you can participate in this beautiful, though unusual experience with me. Yokohama is really sweet, like Toronto, only cleaner:-)

Spotted a Tigers' baseball cap, so I asked if they ( a young couple) were from Detroit and sure enough they are! She (Frannie) will be joining Aurora and I on an expedition this Monday morning. From a listener...

Email comments: Robin,I wanted to let you know how God used you to bless me last week. I was fired from my job Friday afternoon (first time that's ever happened to me) and without going into all the minutia of details I'll just say that I was at home around 6pm waiting for my wife to get home from work - I couldn't even call her to tell her because my company poorly shut down my work email account and wiped my entire personal iPhone making it inoperable. When I got home I thought - I just want to hear some Christian music so I turned WMUZ on. As I waited for her to come home, and hurting from just getting fired, I just bowed my head and prayed asking God to just show me he's there and that he loves me. While I was praying that, you were talking about something on air (that I didn't pay attention to because I was praying) but right when I finished, opened my eyes, and began listening to you again, you said:
"...so, God wants you to know that he's listening to you, he hears you, and he loves you".
It's such a blessing to hear God speak right to us through his people at times. Thanks for being a blessing and allowing God to use you. God bless…

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thepraisecompany.blogspot.com/2010/01/lose-your-job-from-listener.html' title='Lose your job? Two moms meet, one on her deck, the other leaning on the same, taking their coffee/smoke break, chatting as they wait for their kids to get their bus ride to school. Across the street, 4 children are chattering away, one touting an auto magazine, explaining how this one car's engine is "totally rad". As I move along, I find a cute scruffy dog come along my side, as he was secured to a clothesline. I stop, pet him, and as his tail wags, Madison shows up.

She is quiet, but not shy. She is curious, but waits for me to speak. So I do.

"Hi, I'm Robin...is this your dog?"

"Yeah, she's Cookie."

I lean down and laugh saying "I'm pretty sure Cookie would like one!"

Figuring she was about eleven and I asked her name, she said: "Madison."

After I tell her that I really like her name and that I think her dog is sweet , I notice that she leans into me, as if to say, "What else have you got?"

Sooooo I mention the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday and the fact the it's a great time of year and how does she like 5TH grade? and then...she looks at me like there was an assignment on our encounter or something. Which, of course there was:-)

"Madison," I start "I love Thanksgiving, but my favorite is Christmas! How about you?"

She nods, smiling, looking at me intently, so I continue:

"I love Christmas because of Jesus!!! He was born to set us free...forever. He is God's greatest gift, He was born so He could die, so we could live!" I am somewhat animated as I tell her. Smile.

Madison brightens, studying me. Then I tell her square to her face, "Madison, Jesus loves you. He always has and He always will."

The bus rounds the corner, the other kids call to her, her mom looks up and wonders why we have been talking, Cookie is torn~should I go to school or go on a walk or...oh yeah, that's right, I can only go as far as the clothes line permits~

But, as for us, we can go as far as we want....all the way to a side street to share the life changing message of the Gospel.

As I walked away, in the Spirit, I saw an angel clanging a musical triangle, signifying:

NOW Madison knows and the seed will grow.

(Hooray for Madison! Sorry about that :-)
About the "Regime" (laughing) it needs to become more of my regime at 6:30PM nightly on WMUZ.
What a week this has been! Whew~~~I spoke in Canada on Friday evening, a Victorian Tea, kicking the Christmas speaking season off for me. I so love sharing the Gospel at this time of year, what a privilege. I met some women in Amherstburg that night who are never to be forgotten! My fave by far, the women who looked up at me when I asked if they wanted to surrender to Jesus...their faces, filled with hope, sprinkled with apprehension, bless them, Lord! Plus, favor at the border~thank you , Lord and thank you to those dear friends of mine who prayed!
Saturday was the quarterly breakfast for the prayer partner ministry at our church. I love my church so much! Thank you, Lord for Pastor Tim and Rhonda! Thank you for bringing me there when my heart and wings were broken. I am HEALED.
I gardened, cleaned and prepared (more) for my SS class: I Saw the Lord, based on the Anne Graham Lotz book.
Went to church, got super fed...worship, as always, amazing, SS class~I love my brothers and sisters.
LIFEgroup at night....super spiritually engaging weekend.
Work, 2ND Christmas speaking engagement...huge crowd. While I needed to talk over the din of a dinner, God still moved by His Spirit (He is great and greatly to be praised!) Got help from Randy, Kate and Danny that night...plus saw old friends (smile).
A Day of Compassion on Tuesday at WMUZ...a huge blessing as so many of our listeners responded so well to becoming sponsors....plus, I had the chance to become acquainted with the ministry of Compassion, as both Bob and Shannyn already had the opportunity.
Let's see....I will be closing (tomorrow) on a property I have had for 15 years in Canadian Lakes...saying goodbye is bittersweet. Really.
I sold a floor model radio to Tom and Theresa:-) and the plane reservations for Japan in January have just been made...and the week is not done yet?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough, enough. Does the time ever easily ebb away.....I can't believe the number now next to my name. It is like, "Are you kidding me????? How and when did that ever happen? It is not, it's just that I have been in denial.....for years.

How did I become the age of my parents?

Are you laughing yet?

Okay, so regrouping here...there must be benefits to this aging thing. But, great news, no matter who you are, no matter what age you might be, I am very happy to report this: you can have wisdom and to attain it, all you have to do is ask for it.

James says that "if anyone lack wisdom (who doesn't? we can be so unbelievably dumb, huh??? Is your performance at work scrutinized by the boss in light of someone else's? (and does that drive you crazy??!)
How about the comparison of siblings, yuck! So horrid! I had this nun way back when who use to size me up with one of my older brothers...she would call me up to her desk in the mid-afternoon and start out kind and even complimentary at times, then she woud roll right into: "Why can't you be more like your brother Raymond? He was this, he was that..."
"Well, sister, for one thing, he's a boy and I am a girl!" I never said it, but I sure wanted to!
Or, do you compare your visage with everyone else...or do you just compare yourself with Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Palin, George Clooney or George of the Jungle?
I guess it is human nature to compare ourselves with others...check out these examples: Jacob and Esau (Genesis 25), Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 37-47) Peninnah and Hannah (1st Samuel 1). Remember the sons of Zebedee's mom piping up and asking that her sons would be able to be in a closer position to Jesus in the Kingdom? Jealousy has many faces, doesn't it?
Jealousy has ensnared me at certain junctures in my life too...and I hate it! I would rather concentrate on the watchful eye of the Master rather than on the green-eyed monster! His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches over me :-) even though I am a Robin :-)
Paul said (and this is my scripture verse of the week) in 1st Corinthians 13, from verse 4 : love does not envy.
If we see something amazingly wonderful in another person, an attribute, a talent, let's just enjoy it and may it inspire us to be better with what we have been given!

Cool things happening!

Motorcyclists: Sat, Aug 8 the Kruisin For Kids" the Power Co. 248.253.1557
Newsboys fans...August 7 DTE
Karaoke at the District in Orion (Gingeville) this Friday!!!
Top 30, Saturday, 4-7PM!! More than likely, he has more, but for now, and that I know of, the Lord has blessed this guy with these abilities: Eric sings, plays guitar, writes songs, kicks his left foot out when emphasising a point, has a great smile and a sweet godly confidence that he is called to speak/sing the Gospel. And I say a hearty "Amen!"

A worship leader for Woodside, White Lake, this young man reminds me of Keith Green and I told him so. I wasn't the first (smile). Sit up and take notice, because Eric is going to impact the body of Christ even more than he already has with his music. Mark my words, he is a fighter for the truth. In fact, it would be safe to say that as you listen to Eric and his music, he demands a response with every 6 string strum attack on that guitar of his!

We nearly lost him (by e-mail) and then, voila! on the fourth Tuesday at The District in Gingeville, on Baldwin, one mile north of great Lakes Crossing...he shows up for the final audition night, and bam! he hit us between the eyes with his home-grown music. A new Papa, he and his wife Liz will have some fun raising their daughter, Macie to know, love and serve the Lord they obviously do!

When my fellow judges Pastors Gabriel Carnell & Joseph Milosic and I saw Eric perform on the last night of our auditions, we sat stunned , knowing that the bar had been raised for the competition. My only comment to him that night was, " There is only one thing wrong here, Eric..." he looked up, slightly concerned...I continued..."you don't have a CD yet!" But he will now *see the prizes listed below. I suggested that he do a cover of Steve Taylor's 80's Christian cult classic: On the Fritz, for obvious reasons.

To Eric:

Sing the high praises of God with all your might, my young brother! I am already proud of you. Keep your focus on Him who made you and blessed you with these great gifts! He has much in store for you. Stay humble.

I also tip my hat to all those who came out and performed. There were so many talented people!! We chose 10 finalists to perform on July 11. Then, it was honed down to the (fabulous)four: Ben Salazar, Shannon Johnson, Kristi Kurtz and Eric Fritts.

So, what does Eric Fritts get because he won?

10 hours of free studio time from "Under Grace" Studios in Highland

an on-air stint with me (We did this last Thursday 7/16...Eric was great; the pix above were taken at the WMUZ studios)

opening act for a National artist (TBA) at the District

We look forward to more "Open Mic Nights" at The District 248.393.5625 www.thedistrictvenue.com the District is an outreach of Mt. There are several mourning doves that sit around my yard, and they coo and coo.... They seem to really like their surroundings...having been born here and all. They are "home bodies" I am thinking.
See, once upon a summer, my friend, Kim went to water my flowers while I was in Mexico City with Operation Serve and she was suddenly very surprised at the protective Momma Mourning Dove hovering over her eggs in my window box. I let my flowers go that year to accommodate my "hobo birds", only to find they so liked their accommodations, they moved in quickly the following spring. That is when we had "the talk"....I explained to my feathered friends, you are welcome to stay only if you understand that I need to water these flowers sitting under and around you.
We made a pact that day. She nestled, I watered and she never moved when I did (remarkably!).
Momma (or Popcorn, which is the name my young friend, Marifer called her...) gave birth to the most beautiful little doves...and we all enjoyed thriving flowers. He spoke volumes to me. He allowed me to leave my past, my present and my future at the altar. You dont need to know the details because Jesus does. Thank you for the hug, it felt as if He was holding me himself.

He has shown me through you what He can do with a single person's life that is surrendered to him and daily takes up His cross to follow Him. I want that. I want Him. I want to fall in love with Him. I want an intimacy with Him that i have never had with anyone. I am single and i want Him to be my husband. But more than what I want, HE wants those things for me.

The odd thing is I dont go to church there. I got your email and realized it was across the service drive from my house. He would not let me forget, he kept bringing you to mind. I will be honest I didnt want to go, I sat in the car for 5 minutes fighting with my own fear about going in. I am certainly glad I did.

He is indescribable. I love Him. It's music, is what it is and music gets down and deep in our spirits and does its work. God created music to do this very thing. Lucifer distorted it and thus began the original counterfeit of God's great and precious gifts, music being one of them. In case you did not know, the archangel, Lucifer was the chief musician.
Now, nothing against the Mommas and the Pappas; they were great in their day. Smooth harmony, "hip" and ever so cool, they could really sing and frankly, they were great marketers as well. They made it "BIG"with their music and now if anyone doubles up on the name of the second day of the week, we immediately recall the song.
Sure enough, can't trust that day, can't really trust anyone, except for the one who can always be trusted: the Lord.
So glad I play songs that cause us to be filled with
a) awe for God
b) joy!
c) gratitude for the one who made us and who made music!

Check out this e-mail:
comments: Robin your music is sooo great! I used to listen to.......but now I won't change the station from your program, it is truly positive. Plus, your encouragement and devotion to God and your fantastic music is helping all of us Detroiters come home from work HAPPY instead of stressed and grumpy. Thanks Robin, you are the best!!!
P.S. My 8 year old daughter was saved 11 days later at a play “Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames”.

In early December, we were in the car driving to a friend’s house to have bible study. Both of us babes in Christ. My daughter asked from the back seat, “Mom
does Jesus like me?” I answered, “Oh yes he loves you…….. “ I proceeded to talk and you came on between songs and started telling your listeners how much
we are loved by Jesus. I told my daughter, “See, the lady on the radio is even telling us how much we are loved by Jesus.” You stopped, took a breath, and in
almost a whisper, you said, “Oh yes he likes you too.”

My daughter started laughing, and crying at the same time in the back seat. All excited! It dawned on me, she did ask, “does Jesus “like” her?”

We arrived at our destination and stepped out into the cold, my daughter had her hand over her mouth. I asked, “Why are you covering your mouth?”

She answered, “Jesus is inside me, and I don’t want him to get cold.”

As I grew in the Lord, I realized how God had used you to witness and confirm to my daughter that he heard her, and not only loved her, but indeed he liked her.

Thank you Robin for the blessing you didn’t realize you gave. In one little after thought sentence.

She is 31 now and strong in the Lord still. She grew up to lead worship and even preached in her youth group.

Love in Him,

Phyllis

You Will Never Walk Alone

Last year, at my ladies' brunch, the theme was about the gifts that God gives us...to be used for His glory, with the ultimate gift being this: His only begotten Son, Jesus!

While I was preparing for that particulaer event, the Lord plopped this theme in my heart for this year! You Will Never Walk Alone.

I know loneliness. I think if all of us would be honest, we would say that we have each known it ourselves. It is a pretty rotten feeling, loneliness is. God did not make us for it, that much I am certain of.

Richard Jenkins, an actor's actor received his first nod from the Academy this past year; he did not win the coveted award. But, as they say, "To be nominated was an honor." I have watched this guy's career for many years, form the days when I was in theatre myself back in Providence, Rhode Island. He was a part of Trinity Repertory Theatre. I recall seeing him give a perfomance in a play called: The Suicide and it impacted me. It was about a guy who tried (dozens of time) to kill himself, but simply could not! He gained no success. I volunteered ushering so that I could see his performance as many times as possible. he was just really good. In fact, this company of actors was amazing! Sorry! the Scripture verse of the week on my radio show is this:

1st Corinthians 13:4b

Love does not envy, it does not boast,it is not proud.
If I were to envy anything, it could be someones' walk with God....I may witness the closeness, the fruit and I may desire just that. Otherwise, avoid envy! especially when it comes to other people's spouses and stuff....
If I am going to boast about anything, it would be about Him(Jesus)! Who He is, what He does, how He is always at work! That I could boast in, for sure! Really I did. He was in the face of sweet little children, most of whom were orphans. Just so you understand, orphans here means one or both parents have died, more than likely due to contracting AIDS. Then I saw Him in a church where 20-30 adults were gathered, a support group for those who suffer from this horrific disease. As they thanked us for WV’s support, you could sense unbelievable vulnerability as they asked for more help for their families.
I saw Him in the faces of my “teammates” as we listened and learned of the solid impact that World Vision has had in the Sanya area. It brought us a sense of pride and relief, frankly. Then I saw Jesus in the Pastor who is a their loving shepherd, and the nurse who prays for their recovery as she administers the medicine. I saw Jesus in a male teacher who had no less than 50 kids learn some English for us. This guy was so much fun; He loves these kids. I cannot tell you how difficult it was to leave them. In fact, I am sitting in my hotel room, all showered up, watching Twister on TV and it is useless to concentrate on anything else, because I am crying as I think about their condition. The kids didn’t want us to go either, smiling and waving as they sang a song. It was ridiculous.
While our World Vision group toured what is considered a mature ADP (Area Development Project), we enjoyed 80 degree, sharp blue skies and some of the prettiest tropical plants, but whoa was the ride rough and long. When we finally got to our fifth destination today, it only added insult to injury as I traipsed over mud and animal poop to join the group in the middle of a rice paddy. Whoops! Honestly, thought I was on sold ground, only to watch myself (slo-mo) tumble….going, going, going, gone~there I was in a mud hole. Picking myself up, I was drenched in slobber, a sight for sore eyes. Made it over to the actual rice paddy and sat in on the family “pad” having their mid-day break, eating, you guessed it, rice!
I will admit that I am tired and almost ready to come home, yet I am completely satisfied because I know my Redeemer lives. I saw Him today and I saw Him yesterday and I will see Him tomorrow and when we get on our late night flight, I will see Him again. When I get home to the US of A, I will see Him yet again and I can only hope that I will recognize Him.

To sponsor a World Vision child, go back to the front page of the WMUZ website and click on the banner. You will be so blessed by doing this.

Seeing the Face of Jesus in Tanzania

Imagine watching the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States while in a very humble restaurant of a hotel lobby. Almost every TV station is running it, and believe me, in this east African country, they know, love and support Barak Obama to the “nines”. He is raising great hope in the African people.
But I know a group who has been consistently pouring hope into the lives of thousands of Africans, and I have seen the effect face to face over the past few days right here in the villages of Tanzania. World Vision has had a profound impact on these people, especially the children! It may seem to you, you’re on a trip and they are expecting you to say these things…that may be so, however, if I did not see positive, tangible results from World Vision’s ongoing efforts, I simply could not give this glowing report.
Briefly, today alone, we were entertained by “tweeners”, they sang of the horrors of the Aids virus, they sang of the glory of God, they performed a dramatization of a young girl avoiding being talked into premarital sex. By theway, it was actually funny.
*we played frisbee together
*we taught them the song “Nothing But The Blood”
*we traveled a very long while over extremely rough terrain
*we worshipped while we went
*one of the guys from Nashville met his sponsored child and was literally treated like a king, so we all got blessed with a taste of BBQ goat! The other white meatJ
Whoops, gotta go, this is not my laptop. Thank you, Steve Quant! Imagine that, not just meeting her, but playing with her (we threw the ball around and worked up a sweat). We had some laughs and then her family was gracious to make us some tea in their hut. She gave me a beaded ring and a bracelet, more than that, she gave a smile that wouldn’t quit. Now, here is something, while Flora is shy, she was the one to lead us in worship! Mary was our translator (lovely!) and she told me the song was about giving glory to God! We worshipped together and then I was able to show them the e-van-ge-cube. They asked that I would pray for them, how humbling!
There we were in their mud hut, singing “Glory to God” in Swahili, praying and enjoying the presence of God together. Can’t stop smiling. Yet, as I type this back at the hotel in Arusha, the Muslim call to prayer is loud and clear. Darkness and light! World Vision is a bright shining light in Tanzania and in 99 countries all over the world and we get to partake in that as sponsors ~ w hat a joy!

Tanzania Trip - Day 1

Well, here we are! Voila: Tanzania…..in the hotel lobby right now using Steve Q.’s Mac (nice!) We have had breakfast and we are soon to be heading out for out Day 1 venture to the ADP, which means, Area Development Program in Kisanga.
Wait! I am getting ahead of myself here. Wanted to testify to having the best Christian fellowship with a stranger, and yet he wasn’t, if you know what I mean. It was a true gift to have that respite. Jerry from Kansas is the guy’s name and he too was on a mission’s trip, to Kenya.
It is fascinating to me to see how many committed Christians there are who “hit the mission field” to Africa. The planes are filled with groups who are following the call and going into all the world to preach the Gospel in one way or another. Love being a part of God’s plan to reach the lost; I remember it well. So glad He found meJ
The guys with me through WV are Antoine (deep voice) from the Bay area in lovely CA. He couldn’t even handle seeing snow-drenched Detroit. Then there are Wally and Zach and they are the dynamic duo from Nashville. These guys are techno kings and I feel inferior to their devotion to communicate to their listeners from the field. This is all I got, but let’s face it, better than nothin’!
By the way, what I’d give for a cup of java. Steve Quant from World Vision (Seattle), Antoine from sunny California, Wally and Zack from Nashville and me form Motown! We actually all meet here at this KLM hub! Perfect. Leaving the frozen tundra behind and off to the land of Tanzania....where the highest point of Africa stands tall: Mt. Kilimanjaro. I believe we will see it from a distance at some point. The trip is very long, as we "hop" from here to Amsterdam (8hours or so) then, the Kilimanjaro (another 8 or so) to Arusha (one short hour! a breeze).
Stay in touch! There may be 2 or 3 family members or co-workers who have never heard of the virgin birth, how it was prophesied and how it came to fruition in Luke 1:26-38.
That those who have the ears to hear, let him hear....God is speaking!
Sleigh bells are nice, but I would rather hear the God speaking.

Good Season(s)

With the Thanksgiving holiday over and the Christmas season upon us, I remind you (and me) that this truly is, the most wonderful time of the year....for several reasons. By far, the most important reason: Jesus came to set us free from our sin. He came of humble means. He was born of a virgin. He set the world on fire even as a bitty baby!
Come on, think about it: a star, shepherds, an inn, Mom & step Dad, a census, fulfillment of prophesy all over the place and then: whah!!!!! from inside a manger.
I know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem (in Judea), but I must tell you that while in Cairo, Egypt a couple of years ago, I came across a true middle eastern manger and my jaw dropped. I realized that this must look something like the place where Jesus was born. It fills my heart even now thinking about how precious the Savior is...how deeply our heavenly Father loves us and how sweet the Holy Spirit reveal this to you and me.
To him who has ears and eyes, let him hear and see!
I promise to share more about Christmas as the weeks go on, but for now....let me share the scripture verse of the week:
Luke 1:37
"For NOTHING is impossible with God."

He took our shame

What an exciting time of the year! Now, just take Him at His word. I played that song today by Avalon...."Take You At Your Word." It is so great to play songs that strengthen our walk with God. What joy to spend this time with you each day on The Praise Co. Revival~ I want to share this e-mail I received today:
Thank you for your ministry. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your show has helped bring me up in my Christian walk. As well as helping me get through some painful circumstances. (I am grossly understating your help.)I was wondering the name of the song that speaks of not needing a man made diety, because we have the real thing. As well as the artist please. Thank you. a listener to the PCR
Answer: Hm...it's either YOU ARE GOD ALONE by Phillips, Craig & Dean or it is an older tune from the group 4Him, THE REAL THING. In any case, Aren't you so glad that we have this treasure? God, caring about everything in our lives! Every corner, He is there. Every ounce, He has measured. Every need, He has met. Every concern, He is the counselor. Every care, He will take on. Every sin, when confessed: He forgives! Blessed be the Name of the Lord! Monday was my 30th born-again birthday and I held a salvation party on my show, The Praise Co. Revival here on WMUZ. I solicited help from my brother, Danny, the director of the Lord's Ranch in El Paso TX, Ellen Hogerty and an old theater buddy, Paula Ewin, then there was my Mom...it was, in a word: AMAZING! The Lord was glorified and your hearts were touched. So much so that Andrew and Stacia accepted Jesus that night and a gentleman called for prayer that he would get back to where he belonged in his relationship. Who could ask for more?
Thank you to Pam Smith and Amanda Narlock for your help with the phones and the World Vision sponsorships. You both richly blessed me just by taking the time to be there.
Mainly, thank you, Jesus for your unconditional love. You are so beautiful, you never cease to amaze me, I love you!

Oh the weather outside is...well, warm!

The holiday season is creeping up on us....and I am trying to take deep breathes and not be overwhelmed by my increasingly busy schedule. Remarkably, I am making choices to chip away at some obligations in advance so that I can actually enjoy them! What a concept.
Last night, when I finally reached destination: home, I slipped into my "play clothes" took Polly for a walk, had a short iced coffee, made some necessary phone calls and then...I quickly found an old Christmas CD, The Young Messiah featuring Sandi and Larnelle, BeBe & CeCe, Carmen, Twila and 4Him. Funny, most of you know exactly who these singers are even without my giving the last names :-)
Downstairs I went to find Christmas paper, upstairs I went to get the special ribbon, and I began to wrap. Polly was perfectly content to follow me wherever I went and happy that I settled in the dining room. Soon, I found myself singing (loudly, I will admit) "and He shall reign and He shall reign....forever and ever...hallelujah, hallelujah....King of Kings and Lord of Lords...."
Next time I blog, I'll tell you what presents I was wrapping~you'll like it.

who's #1? who's #1?

Hey!
